Dear Legislative District #35 Precinct Leader:
Our current State Representative Kevin Andrus was recently appointed by President Trump as the new Idaho Director of the Farm Service Administration. This will ultimately require Kevin to vacate his position as our voice in the Idaho House of Representatives.
When that vacancy occurs, I intend to seek your recommendation for appointment by the Governor. I hope to visit with you personally but offer a brief introduction at this time.
ABOUT ME
I am Lori Anne Lau, Republican State Committeewoman for Caribou County and a resident of Soda Springs. Because of our mutual love of Idaho, conservative values and agriculture Rep Andrus urged me to step forward and put my hat in the ring to succeed him.
My husband and I are the 5th generation to run his family’s century farm just north of Soda Springs. We developed a direct marketed, grass-fed meat business that has allowed us both to work full-time on the farm. We are proud parents of two grown children, Tom and Becca.
EXPERIENCE
I’ve been involved with policy development since I joined the Caribou County Farm Bureau board over 25 years ago. My fellow Farm Bureau members elected me county president, where I served for a decade. The city of Soda Springs appointed me to serve as on the city’s planning and zoning commission where I am currently the vice chair.
I am a strong voice for Republican principles. My neighbors voted for me as a precinct chair a decade ago, and then the county party elected me secretary/treasurer. In my current position, as State Committeewoman, I represent my county on Idaho’s GOP Central Committee.
PHILOSOPHY
I have a strong idealistic streak as well as, a strong pragmatic bent (honed by 30 years of farming and building a business from the ground up). I deeply believe in the importance of keeping government as close, and responsive, to the people as possible. Keeping government lean and effective, as well as fiscally responsible are key issues as we manage the growth and change that Idaho is undergoing
One of my strengths is being willing to ask hard questions about complex issues. I am willing to look for the heart of an issue, and then look for common ground as a resolution to the issue is developed. I am a strong voice for keeping Idaho a wonderful place to raise a family, and build a business.
I invite you to reach out and ask any questions you may have. As time allows, I’ll be reaching out to further introduce myself, answer your questions, and hopefully earn your support.
Yours,
Lori Anne Lau
